Highland Heights

Highland Heights is the northernmost region of Kalashport, situated directly north of Midtown. It is the setting of Chapter 3 of the Faction Campaign.

Geography

Highland Heights is a suburban region located in the footills of northeast Kalashport. Highland Heights is mostly suburban, dotted with wealthy estates and luxury shopping. In the center of the region is the Highland Heights School of the Arts and its surrounding collegiate scene. Closer to the mountains is the Establishment Ridge neighborhood of wealthy estates. On the far western reach of the region is the FerrCO factory. During most of the campaign, Highland Heights is enclosed in a magic dome barrier, making it inaccessible from the rest of the city.

History

Highland Heights is an old region of the city. Its centuries-old estates have long been the home of Kalashport's business elite and its exclusive reservation-only restaurants have been the sites of several world-shaking business deals. Beyond that, Highland Heights doesn't have that much interesting history compared to the rest of the city.

In contrast with other regions, FerrCO's collapse affected Highland Heights in a social and business way more than in a pure chaos way. Families on FerrCO's board of directors lost reputation and the region as a whole had to scrape back relevance after the entire economy collapsed. In the years since, some companies and estates have regained their pre-collapse status but others remain struggling to find a place in the new world.

During the faction campaign, Norm Riesling disappeared and Richard Halibut was murdered, sending the region into a perpetual crime scene. The Kalashport Security Company constructed a magic dome barrier around the neighborhoods to keep anyone from leaving or entering the Heights in order to contain the suspects. The chaos further intensified when Norm Riesling came back and Abigail Halibut's white dragon scale was stolen, but it turns out it was all a setup.
