Overview
Forik is a bartender at Bardlox's tavern in Midtown, Kalashport. He is an attentive worker and skilled assistant to his boss, even going to the extent to create an alter ego to control a black market in which he can regulate prices of tavern supplies. He is a minor NPC in the Faction Campaign.
Personality and Relationships
Forik is a no-nonsense get-the-job-done type of man. His personality, whether in serving customers at the Brasserie or in making secretive black market deals at the Skyline Market, remains one of upmost professionalism. Others appreciate Forik's hard work and extraordinary competence, which garners him widespread respect in every situation. Despite this, Forik doesn't have that many close friends outside of Bardlox and Weston, but this doesn't seem to bother him.
Bardlox met Forik shortly after college at a punk rock concert. The two got drinks afterward where Bardlox shared his aspirations of opening a tavern. Forik had some experience in the hospitality industry already so the two agreed to form a partnership and open the Brasserie du Bardlox. Forik met detective Weston through Bardlox, and he used this connection to ensure that the police didn't interfere with the new tavern's operations, though this didn't last forever thanks to the Stability Provision.
Forik respects Bardlox a lot and wants to see him succeed despite the dragonborn's tendency for touble. However, Forik's superhuman drive to support the bar is because of a more personal desire to be the absolute best. Forik is competitive, not with other people, but with himself. He knows the Brasserie is in direct competition with Eleanor's jazz club and that his Skyline Market undercuts Norm Riesling's logistics company, but truth be told Forik doesn't ever think about either. Rather, Forik views his work in comparison to his past self's moves, striving to constantly improve. This would drive anyone else to insanity, but Forik is blessed with godlike mental stability and just deals with it.
Appearance
Forik is a dwarf man who is average looking except his blue hair, which isn't dyed - it just looks like that. As a dwarf, his impressive facial hair is the only thing outside of his business ventures that he dedicates much time and effort to.
Trivia
- His alter ego, "The Sapphire" is named after his blue hair.
- At the Skyline Market, vendors and buyers need something called a Badge of the Flame to deal with Forik directly. The badges are just leftover Bardlox pins from the Brasserie. This has the unintended-but-not-negative side effect of allowing any of Bardlox's friends and fans exclusive access to the black market.
